TweetDeck, The Next Step In My Twitter Addiction
Jul 4 by Michael Benner
TweetDeck has entered public beta (link at the bottom) and you should run out and get it ASAP.
I have become addicted to Twitter. TwitterCFC (by Andy Jarrett), Twhirl, Twinkle and now TweetDeck. I use TwitterCFC for several Coldfusion projects and thought about building an air client, but I have no need. Iain Dodsworth has built TweetDeck that meets and exceeds my expectations for overall feature set.
I have started using Twitter for light messaging on our Intranet.
It works great for messages to other users from the system and co-workers without the immediate interruption of IM or phone calls. With TweetDeck those get stored in a "Intranet" group and are easier to separate without creating another user account.
I have also used Twitter (via Twinkle) to find local users that share my interests and met a great group of local designers, SEOs and developers to get together with and exchange ideas over beers.
If you aren't using Twitter because you "don't get it" or whatever, give it a try. I had the same thoughts originally but now I find it to be a great tool to have at my disposal.
When you sign up, send me a friend request at refriedchicken.
I have some invites for other tie services as well, so leave me a comment and I can send you a BriteKite invite or a fun TwitterFone (yup, call in your Tweet) invite.
