Hmmm, need something catchy for here...
Coldfusion rescued by PHP?!?!?!?
Mar 6 by Michael Benner
Say it isn't so...I had to install XAMPP on my MacBook Pro running 10.5.2 to get Coldfusion 8 running. Yeah, I know XAMPP has Apache and mySQL, but let's be honest, it was built to make PHP easier to install. So after finishing my RAID install (see earlier post) I took this opportunity to TRY and install CF8 (which never worked for me in since Leopard). So after reading
the following sites:
Jeff Coughlin
TrakiklyHip
Mark Drew
And finally the best solution for me, Renaun Erickson
No let me state it was not easy, it took me a night of cursing, restarting and just plain pulling my head out. The first thing I did was install XAMPP and test. That was cake. Then came CF8. I followed instructions to a T and it none of it worked. But then I noticed it on the 10th reinstall of CF8. When choosing the "Web Connectors" for CF8, it was defaulting BACK to the "private" (default Mac OS X Apache) even though I point to XAMPP. So I selected XAMPP again and finally on the 3rd time it stuck.
I finished the installation and it worked. I am not sure why it defaults back like it did, but I do remember seeing that it went back every time and I just never put 2 and 2 together. So for all of you having problems try XAMPP (just close your eyes around that PHP stuff) and follow Renaun's instructions, BUT MAKE SURE IT SAYS THE RIGHT PATH.
Now maybe I can enjoy my birthday tomorrow and get some PSP time in (Patapon, God of War and flOw are all calling to me).
P.S. Coldbox on my laptop rocks...
That is great to hear. I figured they were working on it, I hope they get it released soon. Does it have 64bit Mac OSX support as well?
