Hmmm, need something catchy for here...
The Switch: Day 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 {Well, Can We Say Busy}
Jun 7 by Michael Benner
Let me apologize for the lack of posting. It appears, my little trip to Arizona has interfered with quite a bit including this blog, but that is a post for a different day. We are here to talk about the Mac and how after 12 days it is still totally cool...
We had a minor hiccup, that I will be watching, today. The wireless network "card" decided to not locate ANY networks at all. This lasted about 4 hours this morning and I have no idea why it happened or how it got fixed, but it definitely set the tone for the day.
All in all, I have been using this thing pretty much non-stop (yes leaving it on for the 4-6 hours of sleep) and writing code the other 12-14 hours a day (yes 2-4 hours for feeding the slave) and it has held up. Even Windows running in Parallels has been a great performer. The Aptana/Eclipse FTP issue has a work around that has been great (especially since I haven't had to close Eclipse for any reason in the last 3 days). For those that don't know the Aptana Plugin's FTP acts up, UNLESS YOU REFRESH THE FTP SITE BEFORE ACCESSING IT.
The widescreen 1680x1050 resolution is a dream, I am not sure WTH I was thinking, when I wanted something smaller than my 12 inch Sony VAIO. Yes it is bigger and heavier, but much more fun. Battlestar Galatica and Firefly have never looked so good.
Well, I have learned somethings in the last few days that I will be sharing while I finish up this month long marathon in Arizona (Girls I love you and can't wait to get home and bring you back out here with me).
Some of the topics will include, using FCKeditor (although that might be a moot point with the integration into CF8), creating CF files using eval() to turn around and include them on the same page (yup, no other way that I could find), how about writing files to a mapped network drive (that should be simple, right?) and several other gotchas raising their ugly little heads on this project.
