Hmmm, need something catchy for here...
Now this is what I am talking about...

Here I am waiting for my plane to take me back out to Arizona for another week of being a keyboard kowboy and I have some time before I board. I have slapped in the new AT&T laptop connect card and am loving the 3G speeds. As I write this I am replicating a production SQL box down to the laptop for some development on the plane. I have also checked my email, caught up with some blogs, and downloaded
some podacsts to sync with the iPhone for the plane ride.
I used to use my old Sprint Windows Phone as a modem and it worked well for minimal stuff (checking email, etc) but the connection was slow and I could not use my phone at the same time. I am also curious to what my battery life is going to be with the 3G connection vs EDGE vs my Sprint phone (which charged while being used as a modem).
I have to say, having access to my servers, sites and the internet in general (without paying the ridiculous wifi fees at airports) with these speeds is like heaven. When I fire up in Houston at my layover I will report the battery life and see if their speed is higher or lower. For the record I am 412 kbps down and 299 kbps up at RDU.
1641 kbps down and 400 kbps up. I am in Scottsdale, AZ and am running faster on this card than the Cox Cable connection at the office.
1641 kbps down, 351 kbps up
510 kbps down, 343 kbps up.
Not the 3G I have come to love.
