Hmmm, need something catchy for here...
The Yellow Bench
Nov 16 by Michael Benner
One of the great things about being a father is the little conversations that spontaneously erupt with your 5 year old daughter, that shows she is very observant and has an extreme amount of wisdom in her innocence. Two days ago I had one of these conversations. Angelina came in and asked me how I was doing and if I would be going with her to dance practice that night. I said, "No, honey, it has been a rough week and I still have to get this project finished". "OK, Daddy, is that why you look so tired?" asked Angelina. "Yup, I have been up late all week working on this." To which she responded
, "I know what you mean, it was a rough day today. I was at recess and was running so fast, playing tag and just running, then I realized I was tired and needed to take a rest, so I sat on the yellow bench, even though everyone else kept running. That helped a lot, I wasn't so tired and I could run some more, maybe you should take a break and sit on my bench."
My jaw hit the floor. Did she just say take a break. Doesn't she understand mission critical data needs to be moved and recovered. Ah, but she was right, I needed a break, I needed a "rest". So, I finished what I could that night, got some sleep and wouldn't you know the next morning I woke up with the solution in my head. I was too tired to think straight before and needed to refresh my mind. That said, later today (or maybe sometime this weekend) you will see an article on MSSQL, Enterprise Manager, SQL Management Studio, and SQL Code in general, but for now, just know, I am on a mission to not use an GUI for SQL from here on out.
